What will my first Chiropractic visit be like?During your first visit, our Techs will get a detailed health history from you and complete a series of exams that may include posture pictures, range of motion testing, and grip strength. Dr. Claudia will go over any important outcomes from your exams, and provide you with her best recommendation for treatment moving forward. If proceeding with care, you will meet with our Tech to go over scheduling and billing, and then be brought out to our adjusting bay to be adjusted by Dr. Claudia. Watch this video for more information!

How long will my visit be?Your first visit will be around 1 hour long. Follow up visits are much shorter, around 20 minutes.

How may visits will I need? Our goal is to get you to the results you're looking for as quickly as possible. Chiropractic is a process, not an event. While some patients feel better after one treatment, most require a structured treatment plan involving multiple treatments in a short timeframe in order to resolve the root cause of their issues. While you may feel pain free early in the process, it's important that you stick to your treatment recommendations in order to prevent pain flare ups or instability. Keep in mind that while we work to keep you aligned, factors in daily modern life (such as sitting at a desk, repetitive motions such as typing or texting, etc.) work in a bit of a tug-of-war against you. This is why many people choose to continue with routine care to keep you feeling your best!

What should I expect after treatment?Soreness or achiness is normal! It can be a sign that positive changes are happening in your body! If your body has been misaligned for a while, the process can be a bit of a tug-of-war until it is realigned. Daily life can affect your alignment and regular care is a good idea for most people. Here are some tips: Drink lots of water! An adjustment is like a workout for your spine so you want to make sure you’re well hydrated. Keep moving, motion is lotion! Going for a walk or working out are great ways to keep moving and feeling good. Let sharpness be your cue to stop when it comes to activity. Apply heat for 15-mins using a hot-pack or have a hot shower/bath if achy, tight, or sore. Utilize ice for 15-mins if experiencing sharpness, swelling or nerve pain. It can be helpful to freeze a water bottle and use it as a roller at the same time! Double down on doses of electrolytes and vitamin supplements such as Magnesium. These help your body and muscles recover. Try coconut water or pedialyte/pediasure if you’re really dehydrated. Avoid taking muscle relaxants! Advil or Tylenol are better options as they keep your muscles turned on.

What is Chiropractic?Chiropractic is an evidence-based and non-invasive system of integrative medicine based on the diagnosis and manipulative treatment of the musculoskeletal system. It focuses on misalignments of the joints, especially those of the spinal column, which can cause other disorders by affecting the nerves, muscles, and organs. Misalignments (subluxations) may be caused by many heredity, lifestyle or postural factors. The goal of Chiropractic is to correct misalignments to keep the spine and nervous system functioning optimally. Chiropractors practice primarily using their hands (as well as special tables and equipment) with highly-skilled manual adjustment techniques and soft tissue/muscle therapies, providing diagnosis, treatment and preventive care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints.
-
Is Chiropractic safe?Because Chiropractic is non-invasive, the risk of a serious side effect is extremely low. While most people feel a sense of relief, it is possible that following a Chiropractic treatment you may experience mild soreness that should go away quickly. As you may have been out of alignment for a while, your body may have become used to the dysfunction that we are working to correct. Before you have a Chiropractic treatment, ask to discuss any concerns you have with your Chiropractor. If you have any severe or lasting effects or concerns, talk to your Chiropractor about the contributing factors (ie. genetics, weight, activity, posture, work etc.) and what healthcare options and homecare you can do to help you accelerate your healing and achieve your personal best!
-
Does it hurt to get adjusted? No! We use gentle treatment methods that get excellent results. However, some soreness or discomfort afterwards is completely normal as your body take time to adjust to these changes.
-
What is that sound? The sounds heard during Chiropractic adjustments are caused by the release of gas bubbles between joints (called a cavitation). This noise is completely normal and does not accompany any pain. You may notice that the adjustments around your neck are louder than the ones in your low back. This is because the adjustment is happening closer to your ears. At Quarry Park Chiropractic and Wellness, we also utilize drop tables in some of our adjustments. These are tables that allow Dr. Claudia to adjust gently by using less force. These tables sometimes make loud clunking noises during your treatment. You might also notice the sound of other modalities being used (such as the massager).

What if I miss an appointment? If you need to miss an appointment, try to make it up within the same week so you don't lose your momentum (even if the visits are back-to-back the next day). Contact us as we may be able to get you in later the same day or the next day. You may choose to spread out your care plan, just know that it will take longer to feel results.
